Kummen Jungle
On planet Melkia lies a jungle-covered nation called the Holy Kingdom of Kummen. In addition to native villages scattered throughout this land is a coalition of paramilitary bases. When Chirico enlists at one of them, Assemble EX-10, he becomes embroiled in the ongoing conflict between a hardened mercenary army and the idealistic Veela guerrilla forces that fight for the Holy Kingdom, lead by the enigmatic Prince Kanjelman.
Also present are Borough and the Secret Society, who has allied themselves with Kanjelman to aid him in the battle. While they plan to rape Kummen of its rich natural resources, Kanjelman takes part in the tutelage of the new Perfect Soldier, Ypsilon, to develop him into the fighter whose destiny it is to pursue and destroy Chirico Cuvie. But Kanjelman is driven by other things, as well...motivations deeper than anyone can guess.
The pace of the series picks up rapidly from Chirico's arrival at EX-10 and builds steadily to the penultimate confrontation between the warring factions. Ypsilon comes into his own as Chirico's major nemesis, and Fyana is forced to make the fateful decision to either remain with her superiors or abandon them for Chirico forever.
Kummen History
Kummen, the home of planet Melkia's oldest civilization, was established in the fertile Munamera River region as an agrarian nation by the followers of Van Nu, the God of fertility. Kummen is covered mostly with jungle, and agriculture is its major industry. since its beginning, the people of this region have maintained a value system similar to that of the Balarant Union (which also began as an agrarian culture). This strongly distinguishes then from the Melkian Federation, (which they were able to avoid joining).
During the Hundred Years War, the Melkian Federation was forced to divert most of its resources to the off world conflict. But with the signing of the peace treaty, they began to have new hopes of bringing the previously autonomous region under their control. When the Kummen Monarchy attempted to bring modern ideals and technology to Kummen, conflict arose and the nation has been a theatre of civil war ever since; a war the Melkian are eager to exploit to further their own plans.

The ATH-14-ST Standing Tortoise heavy class armored trooper is originally produced to fill a need that mid-class units lack: brute strength. The Standing Tortoise features more power and armor than a mid-class unit like the ATM-09-ST Scopedog, at the price of some maneuverability. The Standing Tortoise features a pair of torso-mounted machine guns, but it can also mount a pair of missile launchers over its shoulders. The Standing Tortoise can also carry a wide variety of handheld weapons, including a flamethrower, bazooka, rocket gun, rocket launcher and missile launcher. Following the end of the Hundred Years War, the Standing Tortoise is often customized for use in the Battling arena combat game. The Standing Tortoise is the mainline unit of the mysterious Secret Society, but it also serves as the main unit of the Veela guerillas fighting against Assemble EX-10 mercenaries on planet Melkia's Kummen jungle region.

Technical and Historical Notes
Although the natives of planet Quent abandoned technology 3,000 years ago, armored troopers are manufactured in the planet's sole remaining city, Gomor. In addition, the giant Quentman are in high demand across the galaxy as mercenaries. One such unit produced by Quent is the ATH-Q58 Berserga DT. Although similar in design to the Gilgamesh ATM-09-ST Scopedog, the Berserga WP has several differences. In addition to waterproofing, the Berserga WP has been customized for underwater combat by using the swamp clog-equipped legs of a ATH-06-WP Diving Beetle. Also, the assault rifle has been shortened to compensate for tight combat areas. The Berserga WP serves as the personal unit of Quent mercenary Ru Shako during his time with Assemble EX-10 and their fight with Veela guerillas on planet Melkia's Kummen jungle region.

Technical and Historical Notes
The versatile design of the Gilgamesh Confederation's ATM-09-ST Scopedog leads to the creation of many variants, including the waterproofed ATM-09-WR Marshydog. Designed for underwater combat, the Marshydog's body has been modified and is equipped with an air barge that inflates and allows temporary underwater submersion. In addition, the Marshydog is equipped with hydrojets for underwater movement and oxygen tanks to support the pilot. Because of its underwater customizations, the Marshydog's speed is lower than the standard Scopedog, and it is armed only with the standard arm punch and a compact heavy machine gun/grenade launcher. The Marshydog is used by the Assemble EX-10 mercenaries fighting against the Veela guerillas in Melkia's Kummen jungle region. With its extensive rivers, the Kummen jungle is the ideal environment for the Marshydog, and it's the unit of choice for Chirico Cuvie during his stint with Assemble EX-10.

The TH-32-AT AT Fly an armored trooper transport helicopter. Using a wire winch system, the AT Fly can hook onto a single AT and pick it up for transport. The AT-Fly is lightly armed with a pair of machine guns in the nose section. Because of the need to transport ATs to the battlefield, the AT Fly becomes an essential unit and is used extensively by the Gilgamesh forces, as well as the Assemble EX-10 mercenaries and planet Melkia's Kummen territory Veela guerillas.
